Alexandra Deutsch, Chief Curator of the Maryland Historical Society, will take you stepping through history focusing on the evolution of women's footwear over time, looking at the social and economic influences that "shaped" the fashions. From a coarse wooden patten with an iron ring, worn to raise a woman out of the mud, to a delicate silk ballet slipper worn during the War of 1812, and a glamorous 1940's gold dancing shoe. Samples of what women are wearing today will be displayed by Vivi G's of Worth Avenue.
